Examining social issues with awareness
July 7, 2013 § 2 Comments
As our nation celebrates it’s independence, I can’t help but feel our society is more comfortable with sameness and coherence, than with stark individuality. Only when we are able to feel unthreatened by singularity, will we truly be free.
I see our nation made up of individuals. Regardless of the conflict, we coexist relatively well given the diversity. But I also see us as very judgemental. If that could be replaced by true acceptance, remarkable power and freedom would manifest. Differences are good. Constructive conflict might also bring about positive evolution. But there are too few instances where it is constructive.
Yes I agree Sara. It seems that the more unstable the environment becomes, the more mired and steadfast we become in our belief systems-a way to create a false stability in our own minds.
